Pilates is only for your core

Pilates is only for your core

It’s true that Pilates is famous for building all-sorts-of-awesome core strength. But just your core? No, it doesn’t stop there. The legendary Mr. Joseph Pilates, emphasized that his system was for the entire body. Pilates takes a uniform approach to developing strength, stability, mobility and flexibility in the deep and superficial muscles of the entire body. It addresses for areas of movement: flexion (bending), extension (straightening), side-bending and rotating. Although abdominal and postural strength and stability is necessary for efficient movement for all of these, a balanced Pilates workout will see you work your arms and legs too. The outcome is a flexible body that moves freely and efficiently as a whole. It’s all about balance. We’re forever seeking it in all other areas of our lives, so let’s prioritise it for our own bodies more than anywhere else.
